Filtering solutions from Postini, inc. protect the Planet Small Business Hosted Exchange environment by providing comprehensive email intrusion prevention that prevents spam, viruses and SMTP attacks from ever reaching your mailbox.
Each individual can log into the Planet Small Business Spam/Virus web based administration area to review emails sent to their account that are indentified as either Viruses and Spam. This interface also allows for complete management of your Spam/Virus protection, including white list management (the ability to allow certain addresses or domains to bypass the filter), the aggressiveness of protection for your account, and a way to identify email incorrectly filtered as Spam. In the event of such a false positve, the interface provides for forwarding the mail directly to your Hosted Exchange mailbox.
Secure Web Based Email
Unlike many other web based email interfaces, security is deeply integrated into the design of the Outlook Web Access feature of Planet Small Business' Hosted Exchange environment. The web based email client includes the following enhancements to ensure a secure user experience:
S/MIME support (Internet Explorer 6 and Microsoft Windows 2000 or later is required)
"Spam beacon" blocking to help protect your e-mail address privacy from spammers
A hidden destination site to help protect your privacy when viewing a URL from a message in Outlook Web Access
Attachment blocking so you can selectively disable attachments being viewed from outside the firewall. You can also prevent sensitive documents from being downloaded outside your network.
A session inactivity timeout using forms-based authentication that enables support for a timed log off after a period of inactivity. Outlook Web Access enables you to log off securely even if the browser is left open with a current session to the server.
Eliminate Wouldbe Attackers
Most providers of hosted email require the use of either POP3 and IMAP4 protocols in order to retrieve mail from their remote servers. These traditional methods require the insecure transmission of email usernames and passwords during communication with the remote servers. Since this information is unencrypted it is vulnerable to exploitation by would-be attackers. To eliminate this threat, all communication with the Planet Small Business Exchange Environment is conducted over a secure connection.
