Transfer domain names from Moniker to Planetsmb
Overview
This page takes you step by step through the procedure for transferring a domain away from Moniker and into an account at Planetsmb.
The transfer process involves the tasks that are described below. Following the transfer tasks, we provide information about tracking the progress of the transfer, and ICANN rules regarding rejections.
Transfer Task 1: Verify that the domain name is eligible for transfer
To make sure your domain name can be transferred, check the following:
The domain name has been registered for at least 60 days, and has been at Moniker for at least 60 days.
The domain name is not in "client update prohibited" status.
Transfer Task 2: Confirm contact information
Before you can transfer a domain, the Registrant and Administrative contact information must be up-to-date at Moniker, because it is these contacts who receive the transfer request and okay the transfer.
To update these contacts at Moniker:
- Log on to your account at moniker.com.
- In the "Manage Domains" menu at lower left, click "View Domains".
- In the list of domains, select the check box next to the domain you want to transfer.
- Click the "Contacts" tab.
- Click the "Batch Tool" link.
- Confirm that the Registrant and Administrative contact information are accurate.
- If you make any changes, click "Save".
Transfer Task 3: Obtain the authorization code and unlock the domain name
Some TLDs require that you provide an authorization code for your domain name, to provide an extra level of assurance that the transfer request comes from an authorized source.
To transfer a .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, or .us domain name, obtain the authorization code from Moniker
- Log on to your account at moniker.com.
- In the "Manage Domains" menu at lower left, click "View Domains".
- Select the check box next to the domain you want to transfer.
- Click the "Transfer-Out" tab.
- On the "Reason For Transferring Out" dropdown menu, select a reason for transferring.
- In the "Suggestions" text box, type any suggestions or feedback regarding your transfer.
- Select the "I Have Read and Understand Monider's Transfer Out Policy" check box.
- Click "Save". This unlocks the domain and emails the authorization key to the Registrant.
You must supply this key when you submit the transfer request at Planetsmb.
To retag a .uk domain name:
Contact Moniker and ask them to retag the domain name to ISP tag Planetsmb.
Alternatively, you can retag/detag directly through Nominet, for a fee.
When you transfer a .uk domain name, use the Auto verification transfer method.
You can submit the transfer requests to Planetsmb and Moniker in any order.
If you submit the transfer request to Planetsmb first, you must submit the request to Moniker within a week.
If you submit the transfer request to Moniker first, you must submit the request to Planetsmb by the next 8th day of the calendar month.
Transfers of TLDs other than those named above do not require any codes or tags.
Transfer Task 4: Transfer the domain name to Planetsmb
Once you have prepared the domain name at Moniker, you're ready to transfer to Planetsmb.
To transfer your domain name to Planetsmb:
To transfer your domain name to Planet Small Business select the domain transfers page. On this page, enter the domain name for which you would like to transfer and click Search. If the domain name is valid and available for transfer fields will be displayed allowing you provide information regarding your transfer request. Planet Small Business' registrar provides transfer capabilities for several domain TLD Extensions including .BIZ, .COM, .INFO, .MOBI, .NAME, .NET, and .ORG. If you would like to transfer multiple domains, select the link for bulk transfers from the domains menu. This option will allow you to specify a list of domains you wish to transfer complete with their Authorization Keys. Upon submission you will be prompted to add additional options including hosting for each of the provided domains.
